WHO WE ARE

El Faro del Venado is a co-creative laboratory where sustainable products and services are produced locally to protect and develop the community ecosystem.

We create programs that develop, revalue, dynamize and disseminate these works. Our communities are losing their craftsmanship skills and becoming more and more dependent on industrial items, using daily products that pollute their environment, such as plastics, chemical fertilizers, and chemical-based, industrially-produced foods and goods. In the absence of governmental regulation and owing to a lack of education, this contamination is already starting to affect the Oaxacan coast’s local ecosystem, community health and our regional economy.

The solution of El Faro del Venado is self-sufficiency--to locally produce food and goods, and to educate our community in ways that impact health, ecology, and economy. El Faro del Venado produces with and for the current community, using nearby raw materials, and we always strive to highlight the local culture. We are mainly focused on utilitarian artisan crafts that can be replicated by everybody, looking for high value-added items. Part of a healthy society, art also has a place of its own in the project, for people to express their emotions, their story, to have fun and imagine the future together.

We aim to empower people and raise collective consciousness through education, creation and multicultural experiences.

COMMUNITY (Socially, Economically, Culturally)
- We unite experts and resources to recreate abundant and self-sufficient ecosystems in communities. We create an exchange of ancestral and current good practices between workers in the same sector. From there, we develop value chains that responsibly connect local workers with the rest of the world.

ENVIRONMENT (Ecologically)
- Each project of the faro del venado aims to reduce the negative ecological impact of the community. We propose solutions through sustainable products or services that also represent a perennial business opportunity for the locality. We try to find the favorable balance point between residual carbon emissions and a healthy, abundant and responsible development with nature.
