25% of the population in Mexico lives in rural areas.
In Oaxaca, 73.4% of them live in poverty.
(INEGI, 2020)
These communities are mostly indigenous and marginalized who live from nature, with ancestral production methods (Coneval, 2020). They have not had the opportunity or do not have the knowledge to use their own resources to their advantage. They earn only 30% of what is earned in the cities, and 29% of women do unpaid family work.
Many families implement solutions that are harmful to the entire ecosystem to compensate: migration to cities or illegally to the United States (Imco Study), so much so that at least 16% of the income of the rural population comes from foreign bank transfers (INEGI, 2018), monocultures with agrochemicals, sale of polluting imported products, etc.
The Lighthouse of the Deer can help substantially.
“We create projects with a socio-economic, cultural and/or environmental impact, gathering local natural resources, wisdom and ancestral techniques with current knowledge and technologies. We generate abundance for present and future generations, without harming anyone or anything.
We analyze; we solve; and we make sustainable projects possible by bringing together different expertise and tools. We focus our actions on high-quality, value-added products and services.
We have met several community actors in their work spaces and we have seen how a commitment like the Faro del Venado can generate profound changes in their lives. Generating more capital and employment, from the same place of origin and with local raw materials.
Consciousness, authenticity, coexistence, community and abundance: our fundamental values are reflected in our way of working and in the people who are involved in the perpetual construction of El Faro del Venado.
With this presentation you will understand how El Faro del Venado can improve the lives of thousands of people in these communities.”
